John Omole in the RSC's Hamlet
JOHN OMOLE has joined the cast of Hamlet, directed for the RSC by Simon Godwin and starring Paapa Essiedu. The show opens at the Lowry in Salford on 30 January before touring the UK, doing a four week run at the Hackney Empire and a run at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC.
Solomon Israel in the RSC's The Follies of Mrs Rich and The Duchess of Malfi
SOLOMON ISRAEL is now in rehearsals for The Follies of Mrs Rich and The Duchess of Malfi which form part of the next season in the RSC's Swan Theatre. Directed by Jo Davies and Maria Aberg respectively, both shows open in March next year.
Patrick Romer in the RSC's Imperium
PATRICK ROMER is now in rehearsals for the RSC's Imperium: The Cicero Plays, Mike Poulter's new version of Robert Harris' bestselling Cicero series. The event will be staged as six plays in two performances and will be directed by Gregory Doran. Imperium Part I: Conspirator will run from 16 November to 10 February and Imperium Part II: Dictator will run from 23 November to 10 February.
Solomon Israel in Kingdom Come at the RSC
SOLOMON ISRAEL is currently in rehearsals for Kingdom Come which will run from 7 to 30 September as part of the RSC's Mischief Festival at the Other Place. The piece will be devised in a collaboration between the cast and creators Gemma Brockis and Wendy Hubbard, and will be set in 1640 on the brink of civil war.
Marcus Griffiths nominated for 2016 Ian Charleson Awards
We're thrilled that MARCUS GRIFFITHS has been nominated for the Ian Charleson Awards for his performance as Laertes in Hamlet at the RSC. The Awards, which are presented by the Sunday Times and National Theatre, reward the best classical performances by actors under the age of 30. The winners will be announced in a ceremony at the National Theatre on Monday 5 June.
Colin Ryan in Snow in Midsummer at the RSC
COLIN RYAN is currently in rehearsals for Snow in Midsummer which will be playing in the RSC's Swan Theatre from 23 February to 25 March. Justin Audibert is directing Frances Ya-Chu Cowhig's contemporary re-imagining of the Classical Chinese drama by Guan Hanquin.
Marcus Griffiths in Hamlet at the RSC
MARCUS GRIFFITHS is now in rehearsals for Hamlet at the RSC. He will be playing Laertes in the production directed by Simon Godwin which opens in Stratford-upon-Avon on 22 March and runs until 13 August.
Nicholas Gerard-Martin in the RSC King & Country season
NICHOLAS GERARD-MARTIN has returned to the Royal Shakespeare Company to begin rehearsals for The Famous Victories of Henry V. In the summer he will begin rehearsals for the RSC's King & Country season which comprises Henry V, Henry IV Parts 1 & 2 and Richard II, performances of which will take place in Stratford, at the Barbican and abroad.
Marcus Griffiths and Colin Ryan in Love's Sacrifice, The Jew of Malta and Volpone at the RSC
MARCUS GRIFFITHS and COLIN RYAN have both been cast in the RSC's 2015 Swan Theatre season, which includes Love's Sacrifice, The Jew of Malta and Volpone, directed by Matthew Dunster, Justin Audibert and Trevor Nunn respectively. The season opens with The Jew of Malta on 18 March.
